Alert message sent 11/04/2022 15:47:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Gerrard's Cross & Denham

Neighbourhood Team
Your neighbourhood team consists of
Sergeant 5731 Dan RYDER
PC 0795 Bryony POWELL
PCSO 9345 Paul DOBBIN
PCSO 7958 Paul AUSTIN
PCSO 9605 Sarah CHURCHWARD

Neighbourhood Priorities

The priorities for your Neighbourhood Policing Team (NHPT) will be decided by the Policing Issues Panel; comprised of representatives from Community Boards from the whole of Chiltern & South Bucks. The panel is not run by the Police, although we do attend as representatives. This allows us to speak to a wide cross-section of the community, find out what you most want improved in the area and consider how we and others can accomplish these aims. The top three priorities are chosen by the forum every three months and are then assumed by your Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Priority – Burglary
This quarter we have seen a reduction from 19 to 13 this year which is an encouraging sign that our increased presence in known burglary areas is having the desired effect.
• Keep car and house keys out of reach from windows and doors
• Set timer switches to turn your lights on for when it gets dark
• Avoid leaving valuables in plain view e.g. laptops and tablets
• Set any house alarms
• Lock side gates to prevent access to the rear of your property
• Keep any tools and ladders stored safely away in a locked garage
• Don’t advertise that you are away and that your home is empty, by ‘checking in’ or posting your holiday snaps on social media
• Resist uploading any holiday pictures to social media until you have returned home

Please remember to not leave your house in darkness, and consider purchases of alarms, timer switches and doorbell cameras are all great tools in combatting burglars. Take a look at Thames Valley Police Website for further crime prevention advice or contact your local Neighbourhood Team

Priority – Anti-Social Behaviour

We have not seen an appreciable level of anti-social behaviour this quarter and we believe that the higher visibility process that we adopted last year is proving to be effective

We have recently been focusing our attention around Denham Cricket Ground, Higher Denham Community Centre and West Common & East Common in Gerrards Cross. You can help us by reporting issues to us on web forms, or via 101.

Priority – Speeding

Speeding has been an area of concern to many residents within the community and we have been out and about conducting speed enforcement in the area.

During January we monitored the Oxford Road and Windsor Road in Gerrard’s Cross and two people were issued a S59 warning. In February checks were carried out in A40 Oxford Road, Windsor Road and East Common and we are pleased to report there were no issues.

Rural Crime

During February the team are carrying out targeted patrols in our remote areas to tackle rural crime. They are also giving out crime reduction and information to local farms and stables about property marking, tool security, tack marking and wildlife crime

Other News

The team have identified three large cannabis factories over the winter months which have resulted in 1.4 million being recovered. Two of these were in the Gerrard’s Cross area and one in Denham.

Following an allegation of a sexual assault on a female on Gerrard cross Common. The dedicated, proactive and efficient response by NHPT officers PC POWELL and PC MCBROOM identified the offender and he was subsequently arrested. Investigations are ongoing.

In December you may have seen our Police Cadets at various events over the festive period. Police cadets is a programme which aims to give young people between the ages of 13-18 years an opportunity to participate within the community, provides training which will encourage positive leadership skills and volunteering opportunities. Have Your Say Events
We have now started our Have Your Say events again so please keep an eye on our social media where we will advertise where we will be.

In addition to overcome gatherings we have identified areas for us to be present, visible and whilst completing our never-ending paperwork. We want the areas to be key points in each community where people are able to see us safely, varying times throughout the month and locations. Due to various reasons, on demand, operationally commitments and to prevent large gatherings we will not be publishing times and dates. however we wish to make the community aware of these locations and if you see a Police vehicle or officer at these locations, we are there for you to speak to us, please come and say hello and help us identify any concerns you have or any information, you may feel will assist us.
