Henley Royal Regatta attracts thousands of spectators to watch world class rowing over a six-day period. This year the Regatta will run from Tuesday 1 July until Sunday 6 July. Plans for policing in Henley are underway and Thames Valley Police officers will be on hand throughout the week to ensure the town is safe and people can attend the event and enjoy themselves. Chief Inspector Matthew Sulley, tactical commander for the event said: “Henley Royal Regatta is an iconic sporting event that attracts visitors from all over the world.
“The Neighbourhood Policing team in Henley will be policing the town and will be on hand to provide support to the local community as normal. “In order to ensure members of the public can enjoy the Regatta in a safe and secure environment; Thames Valley will provide both a visible and non-visible presence in Henley throughout the week. “We expect to see a large number of visitors to Henley, which will increase traffic and congestion throughout the town centre so we ask that motorists be patient and follow the local authority’s traffic advice. “We would like to remind members of the public to remain vigilant and if you see or hear anything unusual then please report to an officer on site or by calling 101 or 999 in an emergency.” For useful updates during the week, please follow our TVP South Oxon and Vale of White Horse and TVP Bracknell and Wokingham Facebook accounts or @TVP_Oxfordshire, @TVP_BerksWest and @HenleyRegatta on X. | ||||
