Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police (TVP) is actively looking for people to ‘be the difference they want to see’ in their communities.

Our force is recruiting for police officers via the Initial Police Learning and Development Programme (IPLDP).

This welcome return of an established entry route is open to all candidates over the age of 17 who meet the eligibility criteria and who do not wish to work towards an academic qualification in tandem with becoming a police officer.

The Initial Police Learning and Development Programme (IPLDP) is a 2-year programme of initial learning:
➡️ No requirement for a degree to apply
➡️ No requirement for A-levels to apply
➡️ To be eligible for this entry route you must have GCSE English and Maths (Grades 9-4/A*-C) and meet our other eligibility criteria – more details here.

If you do not hold a degree, but would like to attain one, then you can apply for our Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) entry route, this 3-year programme of initial learning ensures that officers foundation learning is accredited with a Degree in Professional Policing Practice upon successful completion. Our PCDA entry route is also open for applications.

If you are a degree-holder, the force is also currently accepting applications for our 2-year Police Constable - Degree Holder Entry Programme (PC-DHEP).

To find out more about joining TVP as a Police Officer, including all our entry routes, the realities of working on response, initial training, and to apply please visit our Police Officer page on the TVP Careers website

Policing is a challenging yet rewarding career. It offers opportunity for progression and specialization, plus unrivalled camaraderie and team spirit. It is not easy though; we serve the public 24/7, 365, demand is high and the reality is that you are dealing with people often at the worst moment of their lives who will be looking to you for support.

Chief Constable John Campbell says: “When things are at their worst for people, I want us to be at our best.”

We are looking for resilient individuals whose first instinct is to help and support others; the problem solvers and solution-finders, those calm under pressure, who ask questions and are curious, but also approachable with a natural ability to communicate with people from all walks of life. Could this be you?

Thames Valley Police is accepting applications for a variety of other roles, including Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs), Detention Officers, 999/101 Call Handlers and we have recently re-opened applications for our Special Constabulary.

Join our team and help keep our communities safe. 👮‍♀️ 👉🏾 #proudtobeTVP
