Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

This message is dated Wednesday 27th May 2020 for Ascot.

A GOOD 24 HOURS

NO BURGLARIES

AND

NO CARS BROKEN INTO

I have received several reports from members about Nottingham Knockers in the area (the young people going door to door selling household products) across the area.  Please remember our NHW advice:

‘I am sorry, I do not purchase goods or services at the door’

Then firmly and politely close the door.  In the past we have had Cases where the young people no longer ask for cash, but use a card payment machine.  They type in the price, then ask the resident to enter their PIN number, then on the excuse of a poor signal, have to walk around with the device, during which time they change the payment amount.  In one case last year it was changed from £15 to £500.  Please remain alert.

CRIME:

I have attached reference numbers to each crime report.  If you live in the vicinity of any of the crimes mentioned and have CCTV or a video doorbell, can you please check the footage.  If you have any that might be of interest to the police, can you please make contact with us, quoting reference number given.
