Monthly Newsletter - NHW in Slough

Alert message sent 23/05/2020 21:07:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

To the members of Neighbourhood Watch - Slough
Thank you
Thanks to those who have long been involved in running successful NHW schemes. You know you are doing such important work in bringing our communities together to promote their safety as well as, at the moment, looking out for the elderly and vulnerable.

My aim, as Multi Scheme Admin for Slough, is to provide a monthly update on how we are doing in promoting NHW in Slough, as well as some ongoing incidents.

Becoming a Coordinator in Your Community
The members will benefit if they are part of a NHW Scheme. So I encourage members to consider create a new scheme or join exiting scheme. Every scheme will need a co-ordinator to bring the neighbours together. I know that some of you will have considered playing a bigger role in the NHW scheme in your area. If that’s you, I’d like to encourage you to go for it! There’s lots of help and support for you. If you’re thinking about it, but are not sure how much time it would take, or if you would just like more information, email me me or call me on 07795 909111.
WhatsApp Groups
While we get ready to return to the new normality, there will be a greater need to keep our neighbourhood safer and stronger. This lockdown has encouraged many NHW Schemes to exchange messages instantly through the creation of WhatsApp groups, which have brought communities closer than before. If you would like to create a WhatsApp group for your local Scheme but not sure how to go about it, my suggestion is to recruit a younger member of your household to help you, it’s very easy.

Recruitment of Area-Coordinators
We’d love to make sure that the whole of the Slough area gets the benefit of the NHW scheme, particularly those areas not currently covered. In order to do that we need more Area Coordinators to take up the challenge and responsibility of spreading the word to promote the Scheme. If you are interested, please email me or contact me on 07795 909111 for further details.

And if you wanted to expand the scheme to your neighbouring area you may be aware that stocks of signs and stickers are available from TVNHWA. Let me know if you need any supplies.

Looking Ahead
As you know, NHW is all about neighbourliness; aiming to help our communities to be safer. And it’s about being friendly and caring; and watching out for the elderly and vulnerable too.

The VE Day party celebrations brought happiness on our streets as we truly came together in our different communities. It showed us what real community spirit can be like. Let’s work together to show that when the end of lock-down comes we can keep that community spirit alive!

Finally Eid Mubarak (Happy Ramadan) to those celebrating Ramadan.
Thanking you.
