Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

This message is dated  November 2019 for Maidenhead.

FIRST:  a Bogus Builder case.

The police were called to an address in Cookham pursuant to a call from a bank after asking the Banking Protocol questions.  They believed the residents was the victim of fraud and bogus builders

The police attended the home address and spoke to the family.  The elderly resident it appears was confused when 2 young builders had asked for more money to complete a job.  The 2 builders were on the seen and said they had not asked for more money and were happy to complete the work for the agreed price.

There are suspicious circumstances regarding how they got the work, but it is believed they simply cold called the door.  The amount the residents was able to remove out of his account, will be put back.

PLEASE, PLEASE - DO NOT DEAL WITH COLD CALLERS, IT NEVER ENDS WELL.

REMEMBER OUR NHW MOTO:

I AM SORRY, I DO NOT BUY GOODS AND SERVICES AT THE DOOR.

NEXT:  ANOTHER CASE OF SEXTORTION !

The aggrieved is elderly and partially sighted, but received an email saying he had been on a porno site.  The site contained a Trojan, which videoed what he was watching and what he was doing.  Because of the Trojan, they have his computer details and contact email as it has copied all his hard drive.

He has not been to any such sights, but was still asked to pay 850 Bitcoin - which is a lot of money, or the footage will be forwarded to everyone in his personal address book.

IF YOU GET ONE OF THESE - BIN IT - IT IS A SCAM.`

Just to let you know I will be A/L from Friday, until the beginning of January - trekking and kayaking across Sri Lanka !!!  You would think at my age, I would know better - but my motto is - Never give up - Time is always shorter than you think and you never know when the clock will run out  !!

I have spent the last week, training the PCSOs to send messages while I am away.  Some have sent out messages today to make sure they know exactly how the system works.

I have been asked to put this out by Tracy from Family Friends
