Appeal for information after theft from vehicles in Sandhurst
Thames Valley police is appealing for information following recent thefts from tradesmen’s vans in Sandhurst.
At 22.20hrs on Monday 25 November 3 thieves were disturbed as they were removing items from a Transit van that had been parked outside its owners home in Yeovil Road. Upon been challenged one offender brandished what was believed to be a crowbar, and all the offenders then made off in a silver coloured VW Golf.
During the same night another van parked in Range View was also broken into, with the offender(s) forcing the sliding side door open in order to steal the owners tools.
If you have any knowledge, information or CCTV recordings of either of these incidents please contact the Thames valley Police 24 hour contact centre on 101, quoting ref. 43190368786.
Or alternatively you can remain anonymous by passing information via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
Advice to help keep your vehicle safe.
If you are a tradesman that needs to leave your van parked and unattended on the roadside, the best way to protect your tools would be to remove them. However this is often not practical, so you should ensure they are not left on view within your vehicle, preferably stored within strong secure and locked tool boxes. Your van doors should be fitted with strong deadlocks and fitted with an intruder alarm (factory fitted alarm systems often only activate if an attempt is made to start the engine). Also consider installing a dash cam that would capture images of anyone approaching your van.
