Crime prevention

Alert message sent 07/06/2019 13:08:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear All,
I have had numerous emails about bike thefts in various parts of Oxford. When asked if reported, the vast majority have not reported to police. Please can I ask that you ask your  members and residents in your community to report ALL thefts to 101 or online reporting
I understand that you may feel 'it is not worth reporting' or 'the police won't do anything' - the usual reasons for not reporting but TVP need to have more accurate figures as to the problem to target resources, The thieves may be spotted on CCTV and Neighbourhood Watch can target more members in these areas and  deliver crime prevention literature  Anything suspicious please report to the police or Crimestoppers.
I want to use the Alert system to be more pro-active in its crime prevention and to pass relevant information.  Neighbourhood Watch schemes also help with community safety and community cohesion and this is reliant on the good will of all. If you wish to become a member or Co-ordinator of a NHW scheme in Oxford please contact me.
