Broken Boilers

Alert message sent 02/03/2018 11:48:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

As there has been a continual period of sub-zero temperatures, a lot of people are having problems with their boilers as the condensate pipe has frozen. The condensate pipe is the white plastic pipe that comes out of the bottom of the boiler, it often runs to an outlet outside but also could run into an inside waste pipe (bath/sink etc).

Here is a video showing exactly what to do yourself to try to defrost it:

You could also try a hairdryer to heat the pipe up from the inside! If you aren't sure, contact your local plumbers or heating specialist. We just wanted to let people know about this to save you being without heating/hot water unnecessarily. As you can imagine, there is a really high demand for plumbers at the moment and a lot of places are not accessible so there is likely to be a bit of a wait!

Stay warm and don't forget to check on your neighbours especially the vulnerable and elderly.
