The Thames Valley wide Rural Crime Bulletin has now been resurrected.

This Rural Crime happened in this LPA:

04 03 2022  Ham Lane, Old Windsor, Windsor.  Caller found 8 rabbits found strung up by their ears on barbed wire fence next to a public pathway. This is potentially linked to hare coursing or poaching.

22 02 2022  Farm, Burleigh Road, Cassington, Oxon.  4 poachers / people on motorbikes / quad bikes, driving across field. MOP only saw 4x headlights

23 02 2022  Bradenham Road, Bradenham.  a padlock from agate to Bradenham Woods has been cut potentially to hare course.

25 02 2022  Farm, Fullers Hill, Chesham.  3 people and 4 white dogs were seen on the field next to callers land hare coursing. They had come onto the caller’s field the day before stating that they were searching for a lost dog. Vehicle potentially Blue Ford Ranger Wildtrak Ecoblue

26 02 2022  Disused Pit, Yew Tree Hill, Ball Pit Road, East Isley, Newbury.  Blue Nissan X-Trail Columbia was driving around a field and suspected of hare coursing with three males and a dog. No persons were located or identified but the vehicle was located and seized.

27 02 2022  Discovery Centre, Muddy Lane, Thatcham.  4-5 males with 20 dogs were suspected of going hunting.  Police have attended and located a vehicle Volkswagen Caddy, that is known for hare coursing.  A witness has then seen 3 males with 3 dogs in camo jackets walking out of The Discovery Centre. No one witnessed hare coursing and no deceased animals were seen in the vicinity.

28 02 2022  Baulking Lane, Baulking, Faringdon.  3-4 males and 1 loose dog seen on callers land. There is a video of one of the males

01 03 2022  Farm, Sailsbury Road, Hungeford  4-5 males in field with a dog chasing a hare.  Caller was driving past so no vehicle or suspect details.

03 03 2022  Curridge Road, Curridge, Thatcham.  A Subaru Forester and 8 males and dogs reported as being hare coursing. Vehicle headed towards Blewbury and no vehicle details given.

04 03 2022  Rose Cottage, Beedon Common, Newbury.  Caller claiming that hare coursing/badger baiting was happening at the bottom of their garden.  4 terrier type of dogs and 3 males (could have been more). 2 of the males were described as teenagers/early 20s wearing caps and hoodies. Males were shouting aggressively at the dogs.  2 weeks previously, caller found a small dog, possibly a puppy on her land shivering and cold.  She believes it is linked to hare coursing.  She also reported that over the past year, she was having building work done and males have attempted to take building materials, however, the builders stopped this. No CCTV.

METAL THEFT:

20 02 2022  Robins Court, Blackpond Lane, Farnham Common.  Males have gone on caller’s property and put scrap metal in their white For Transit van.  Caller states a male has approached him every couple of days for the last few weeks, to ask for the metal. The index is AG 7** FAV.

24 02 2022  Milestone, Tidmarsh Road, Pangbourne, Reading.  600m of Copper Cable stolen (pulled out of the ground), from solar farm building site after fencing was cut for access.  Earlier in the week, a suspect was found wandering around the site.  When approached he stated he had lost his dog and asked if there was any copper cable going spare. Vehicle of person found on site is HF ** MGY Ford Transit 350 Leader ECOB White Tipper

23 02 2022 / 24 02 2022 Bradenham Wood Lane/Rectory Lane, Bradenham.  An Open reach engineer has claimed that 1.3km of 200 pairs of 0.63 E/Side cables that goes from the exchange to green cabinets, has been stolen.  Workers have been on the site for last 8 working days and finished on 23/02/2022 at around 16:00hr. Caller returned on 24/02/2022 at 09:00hrs the box lids up and looked into the holes and now all the cable has been taken. No CCTV/witnesses or suspects.

BURGLARY:

21 02 2022  Iver Sub Station, Slough Road, Iver Heath.  Theft of approximately £10,000 worth of aluminium.  At approximately 13:55 caller noticed that, the gates to the external compound were open and the padlock had been cut with bolt croppers. Aluminium HV Busbar clamps and connectors has been waiting on a pallet waiting to be installed, states some more might have been stolen but they were unsure. On the previous Friday (18th Feb), whilst leaving the site, a colleague witnessed 3 males running out of the compound and driving away in a white van with a missing bumper on the side. No index or CCTV.

25 02 2022  Farm, Sandford St. Martin Road, Middle Barton.  Caller states, a container has been broken into on a farm area that he rents from a farmer and stolen tools. No CCTV. Approximately £20,000 worth of tools stolen which include: 4 Peckers that go on front of digger, 1 Steel Saw, 7 Digger Buckets. Metal rod used to break in.

27 02 2022  Farm, Mursley Road, Little Horwood, Milton Keynes.  Caller reporting that people on his farm, have broken into, and started a digger. They have made off on foot. This is a repeat offence location of rural crime. Caller saw 1 figure running away, no further description.

27 02 2022 / 28 02 2022  Westcote Barton, Chipping Norton.  A Takeuchi mini digger 1.6 ton was stolen. The victim was keeping the digger in a yard he rents from a farmer.  It appears they have driven the digger through woodlands and have loaded it on a trailer and left tyre marks. This was previously broken into on 25/02/2022 where work equipment was taken. They have also broken into a Ford Transit and appeared to have attempted to “hot wire” it. Already showing as Stolen in Wales from 2017.

28 02 2022  Farmland, Wheatlands Lane, Newbury.  Reports of a quad bike being seen going through the fields on Farm.  Offenders have fled and gone across the field. A blue Ford Fiesta in EF ** VSA had been seen in the area a few days ago and the farmer thought this was unusual. It is unknown if this is related.  Two different companies occupy the main barn towards the rear of the property. The doors had been lifted off their hinges with the padlock still intact. This is an exceptionally large barn, with several cars, garden machinery, tools, tractors, trailers and quad bikes. It appears that a storage container had been forced open, as tool marks were present.  It is unknown how much has been stolen, as the companies who rent the barn, were not at work.  The farmer confirmed that the trailer has been dumped with several lawnmowers, a leaf blower, battery chargers and van doors were on a small wooden trailer towards the end of one of the fields – it appears that they stopped, as could not cross a ditch and stream into the woods.  A tyre on the trailer also burst.  The items on the trailer can easily be recovered, as they are still on the farmland. The quad bike has WJ ** DPK, which is a Honda Quad that was stolen from the barn.

01 03 2022  Kennels, Keepers Cottage, Wheatley Road, Oxford.  A staff member driving past, saw people who appeared to be removing objects.  On further investigation, the old dog kennels had been partially dismantled and some of the metal panels, had been removed. They believed the group were disturbed and planned to come back to collect them later. The staff member also saw an old cream/white coloured Honda/Suzuki van with the same colour trailer with a roller shutter door at the back. 3 males one in his 50s and heavy set and scruffy looking with darkish hair, 2 other males not seen by witness.

01 03 2022 / 02 03 2022  Stable Yard, Road between Great and Little Brickhill Lane, Brickhill, Milton Keynes.  Overnight 1 or more people entered the premises, they took mostly leather goods, horse rugs and boots. No CCTV

01 03 2022  Mill, Cleveley, Chipping Norton.  caller has turned up to work at sig and noticed that the two garages under the building have been broken into. The locks on the door have been pulled off. Caller states this would have happened anytime between 15:30hrs On 28/02/2022 - 07:30hrs on 01/03/2022. As far as they are aware, only the garages have been broken into - various tools have been taken such as box of power drills, battery drills, nail guns, table saw, plunge saw and a battery. CCTV has been viewed from a neighbour’s property, but it only captures what looks to be a white hybrid type vehicle driving down the drive slowly at 02:04hrs but there is no index shown and no visible id of the suspects.

02 03 2022  Meadow, Goose Lane, Newbury.  Caller states intruders were in her yard.  3 youngish males have cut the padlocks and entered an empty wooden stables. They have run off, after being confronted by caller.  They were wearing dark clothing, carrying big yellow bolt cutters.  The caller did not see a vehicle, but did hear one before she saw them.

04 03 2022  Manor Park, Bicester Road, Launton.  Caller, reporting theft of diesel from machinery - approximately 2,700 litres has been stolen. The machine has a tap underneath and a padlock which was broken off. No obvious signs of entry and caller states that the field must have been transported in multiple cans. No CCTV, witness or suspects.

WILDLIFE CRIME:

24 02 2022  Chipping Norton Vets, Banbury Road, Chipping Norton.  A member of the public brought a Harris Hawk into the Vets, after they found it with metal fragments in its wing. The bird has a leather anklet and had an IBR ring but the details are not up-to-date. The bird had to be put down. No exact location for where the Hawk was found.

24 02 2022  Footpath between Riding Way and Kent Close, Wokingham.  a main badger set nearby and one of the non-main setts has been deliberately blocked. No CCTV.

27 02 2022  Heath Lane/Hailey Lane, Peasemore.  3 adult males (1 in a grey jacket, 2 males were about 5’8, the caller didn’t really see the other male) and 1 child with 8 or 9 terriers were at the above address where there are badger dens. Caller states all the terriers were working around the holes for the sets.  Officers attended and found one dog in a cage in the back. No dead badgers or other animals inside, or equipment for badger baiting. CL ** CDL Mitsubishi L200 Warrior also in attendance.

28 02 2022  Foxmeadow Farm, New Yatt Lane, New Yatt.  2x deer’s were killed by what the caller state are “professional poachers” which was during the night.

28 02 2022  Bridge Crossing Grand Union Canal, Ivy Lane, Bierton.  A member of the public reported “illegal fishing” in the brook opposite their house and called the Police. On arrival, 3 males have cycled off on bikes with fishing rods on the front of them. Officers have done a foot patrol of the area and not located anyone else. There is one small sign up that states no fishing but this is barely visible, from where the males would have been.

STOLEN ITEMS:


19 02 2022 / 20 02 2022  Amersham,  Offenders stole a Kubota (like a large dark green golf buggy), but at the same time entered the victim’s garden and stole a sculpture worth £6200.  It is a life size realistic looking white horse decorated with multi coloured coloured rings.

25 02 2022 / 27 02 2022  Blenheim House, The Parade, Caversfield, Bicester.  a large area of graffiti has defaced a historic building with possible political slogans. The graffiti was on Sir Winston Churchill’s bunker.
