Changes in Representation

Alert message sent 07/02/2022 17:37:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear Coordinator
We like to think that Neighbourhood Watch is an open and democratic organisation. It is very 'grass-roots' in the sense that each Scheme is unique, and you, as Coordinator, decide with your local members how your Scheme is run.

However, we do have a small organisational structure to help this local activity, providing support and guidance where necessary. The structure of our organisation is in line with that of Thames Valley Police, as we work so closely with them. So, in each Local Police Area (LPA) we have an Area Representative to act as the primary link between yourselves and our national organisation - assisted by Area Coordinators and Multi-Scheme Administrators where appropriate. This 'Area Representative' (AR) is the role I have fulfilled for our LPA in recent years. In that role I have also represented you on the Thames Valley Association Committee.

While I hope to retain some local involvement for a while at least, I plan to step down as Area Representative (and as Secretary of the Committee) in May, as I will shortly reach the age of 80. I would welcome volunteers to take over from me as AR! Any experienced Coordinator who could make a few more hours a week available for Neighbourhood Watch would find the task straightforward – and it is in a very good cause!

Many thanks for all you do to help your local community with Neighbourhood Watch. If there is any support you need, just let me know.

Keep well and stay safe!

Kind regards
David
