Alert message sent 06/02/2022 13:05:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

This is a message from Val McPherson Vice Chair PR & District NW Association

Range Rovers
Thames Valley Police along with other Police Forces are warning residents that Range Rovers are being stolen at the moment. They are advising that owners of these cars should make sure that you have extra security such as steering locks and immobilises.

Mobile Phone Scam Warning.

I have received the following information from a members stating she received a text message to say she had been in close contact with someone who had tested positive for Omicron and that she was to self isolate and access the website below to obtain information about the necessary procedures.

The member did not do as instructed because she knows that any such message would come from the NHS or Test and Trace not a random number, plus the official message would be a blanket Covid 19 message not specifically mention Omicron.

Please be very careful not to react to any message like this as it is a scam and they are trying to take money from you.

Telephone Scam

The police are advising that we report  bogus callers to our telecom supplier. You may need to dial 1471 to get the caller's number.
Below is two examples of where to report bogus calls:

BT - https://www.bt.com/consumer/edw/scams/

Talk Talk - https://www.bt.com/consumer/edw/scams/

Other telecom suppliers will have similar pages on their websites.
It is hoped that , by reporting these callers that the phone lines maybe withdrawn.

It is also advisable to sign up to BT's Call Protect, Talk Talk Call Safe and Sky Shield which are free of charge and which can block future unwanted callers., if you have not already done so. Other telecom suppliers will have similar facilities.
