A Recipe for Rural Crime

Alert message sent 18/12/2021 14:38:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

A recipe for Rural Crime.

• A generous helping of robust locks.
• Adequate amount of security lighting.
• A good measure of quality CCTV.
• Portion of boundary security.
• Combination of machinery security.

• Fit good quality locks on doors and windows and robust padlocks on outbuildings, sheds and gates.
• Install ‘Dusk til dawn’ security lights and motion sensor spotlights.
• Consider installing CCTV to provide formal surveillance to the most vulnerable areas of the property.
• Look closely at the perimeter of your land to ensure it is as secure as possible. Invert the cap gate hinges so that gates cannot be lifted off. Use locking posts or temporary obstructions to control large openings to yards.
• Consider the use of hitch locks, wheel clamps or ground anchors for vehicles and plant machinery. All property and vehicles should be uniquely marked, photographed and recorded somewhere safe.

Follow the recipe to make your property/business as secure as possible.
