Secure your home Keep burglars out

Alert message sent 10/12/2021 08:02:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

This is a message from Wycombe District Neighbourhood Watch Association.

We broadcast much the same message as this on 28th October.  However, now that we are more clearly into the longer hours of darkness and rapidly approaching the Christmas / New Year holiday, we want to make you aware that the expected increase in burglaries is now with us.

With many people being away over the festive period, we must re-emphasise what needs to be done to avoid burglaries at this time of year:

  • Lock all doors and windows while you are out or away.
  • If you have an alarm system, don’t forget to set it.
  • Check that side gates, sheds, and garages are locked and tools or ladders are not accessible.
  • Store all house, car and window keys out of sight and away from doors and windows.
  • Make your home look occupied by using a timer switch to turn on lights, a radio or TV from dusk.  We sell timer switches @ £3.50 each – contact us via office@wdnhwatch.plus.com
  • Ask a trusted friend or neighbour to keep an eye on your house if you are going to be away.
  • Invite a neighbour to park a vehicle on your drive to help create the impression of occupancy while you are away.
For more crime prevention advice, please visit www.thamesvalley.police.uk and search ‘burglary’.

Keep safe!
