Local Amazon scams

Alert message sent 10/02/2021 08:03:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Amazon scam phone calls
There were several  reports yesterday evening of a scam phone call in various parts of Oxford.

These were calls from the same number 0783740812 asking if the person had bought anything from Amazon costing £1,000 and to connect by pressing 1. The people called Amazon to check and the company stated that they would never send this message. As you can appreciate,  this may have been a worrying phone call and a person may easily press 1. If you do receive this or similar phone calls please do not press 1 and treat it the same as an attachment or link on an unsolicited email.
