Appeal for witnesses following a burglary in Crowthorne

Alert message sent 16/12/2020 12:27:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following a burglary in Crowthorne.

Between 5.45pm and 7.00pm on Tuesday 15 December an unknown offender or offenders broke into a house in Dove Close. After gaining access into the rear garden the offenders smashed the glass of a patio door in order to gain access into the house. An untidy search of the kitchen and bedrooms was made, cash, and small electrical items appear to have been stolen, the offenders may then have then left via the front door which had found to be unlocked.

Investigating officer PC3219 Mitchell Plunkett  said “ We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information or domestic CCTV or Dashcam footage of suspects to call our 24-hour enquiry centre on 101, quoting reference 43200425888.

If you don’t want to speak directly to police you can contact “Crimestoppers” anonymously and free of charge on 0800 555 111. It is an independent charity, no personal details will be asked for, calls are not recorded or traced and you would not have to go to court.

To reduce the risk of criminals targeting your home at this time of year make sure your home always looked occupied, use simple timer sockets to turn lamps on and off when you are out in the evenings. Close and secure gates that lead to rear or enclosed gardens. Further crime prevention advice can be found on the Thames Valley Police website at;

Neighbours looking out for each other, and been prepared to report suspicious activity also helps deter offenders and reduce crime. If you want to find out if there is already a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme in your area, or you’d like to find out more, check out their site www.ourwatch.org.uk

Feel free to share this information and advice with neighbours, friends and family or on social media.
