Additional police patrols in Reading

Alert message sent 18/08/2020 16:16:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

As you may be aware, Thames Valley Police is investigating a number of incidents which may be causing some concern in the Reading community.
We are continuing with our investigations following the incidents, which have taken place across the town, involving violence and weapons being used.
You may see an increased police presence in your community. A number of arrests have been made in connection with the incidents, the majority of which are being treated as isolated.
Chief Inspector Ashley Smith, Deputy Local Policing Area Commander for Reading, said: “I would like to reassure you that neighbourhood officers have been carrying out additional patrols in the areas affected, which will continue in the coming weeks, so you may see a greater police presence in the community.
“You may see the force’s Mounted Section joining local officers in the coming days, along with officers from the Joint Operations Unit. If you see officers, please do not be concerned, instead feel free to approach them to discuss any issues you may have.
"Alternatively you can phone our non-emergency number 101 to talk about any concerns or information you may have with the neighbourhood team.”
