Amazon Scams

Alert message sent 21/06/2020 21:59:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

This message is from Val McPherson Vice Chair Princes Risborough & District NHW Association.

I have been informed by a Co-ordinator and member that they have received two different types of scams from Amazon Prime.
The first person received a  very early morning call purporting to be from Amazon stating that there Amazon Prime account will be debited with £79 now, but if you want to query it Press 1 now. The gentleman realised this was a scam. Please do not take any instructions over the phone from an unknown caller or anyone saying they are from Amazon  or your bank.
These are cold callers trying to trick you into giving your personal details.

The second scam came  via email again saying they were from Amazon Prime.

"Your Amazon Prime Membership is set to renew on 11 June 2020. However, we’ve noticed that the card associated with your Prime Membership is no longer valid. To update the default card or use a new one for your membership, Please find the document attached and follow the on-screen instructions.
To prevent interruption of your benefits we will try charging other active cards associated with your Amazon account if we can’t charge your default card. If we can’t process the charge for your membership fee, your Amazon Prime benefits will be suspended."
Sincerely
The Amazon Prime Team.

Note the wording, punctuation and formation of sentences . Yes it is a scam.

These scammers are getting very clever be on your guard at all times. If it does not look right then do  not open the attachment or press any digit they instruct you to do.
Regards
Val
