Attempted rogue trader scam Churchill Road Kidlington

Alert message sent 20/03/2020 19:51:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Attempted rogue trader scam - Churchill Road, Kidlington.

We received a report this morning from Churchill Road, Kidlington in which an unknown man claiming to be a window cleaner (but no such agreement had been made with the occupant) was challenged on the doorstep by a carer. This is believed to be an attempted doorstep scam with a similar modus operandi to incidents reported elsewhere in Cherwell, such as roofing scams.

The man from this morning’s incident was described as follows: a white man in his mid 30s, around 6’ tall, of slim build and with rotten teeth. He was wearing a grey woolly hat and a grey tracksuit. He arrived at the address in a large grey van (make unknown but described as modern) with a sliding door on the side and there was a dark brown dog on the front passenger seat.

Please report incidents such as these to us at the time they are occurring. Oxfordshire County Council's Trading Standards department also deal with rogue traders - find out more about the work of their Doorstep Crime team at
