Appeal for witnesses following assault without injury in Newbury

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses following an assault without injury in Newbury.

At around 8.45pm on Tuesday (3/3), the victim, a 17-year old girl, was assaulted without injury by the offender on the footpath along A339, towards St John’s Road.

A cyclist intervened to separate the victim and the offender using his bicycle, but did not speak with them. The offender ran away after the victim said she would call the police. 

Investigating officer, PC Jack Barr, based at Newbury police station, said: “We would like to speak to anyone with information with regards to this incident.

“I am particularly interested in speaking with the cyclist that intervened during the incident.
“If you think this could be you, or you know who this may be, please get in touch.
