TVP Rural Crime Week 6 - 13 October 2019

Alert message sent 04/10/2019 15:03:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

From 6 – 13 October 2019, Thames Valley Police will be increasing the spotlight on crime in rural communities.

Rural crime is an issue for large areas of the Thames Valley, but it tends to go unreported.  It can impact on insurance premiums, food prices and damage our local rural communities.
It tends to fall into one of four categories:
  • Agricultural
  • Equine
  • Wildlife
  • Heritage
It can also fall under environmental crime, which covers:
  • Illegal waste dumping
  • Fly tipping
  • Polluting Watercourses and land
The good news is that there are a variety of things you can do to protect your property, land and livestock.

As part of this special focus week West Oxfordshire’s Neighbourhood Policing Teams will be holding Crime Reduction Advice Events at the following locations:

6 Oct ‘19            Charlbury                            10 am – 2 pm
7 Oct ‘19            The Wychwoods                 10 am – 2 pm
8 Oct ‘19            Chadlington/Kingham           3 pm – 6 pm
12 Oct ‘19          Bampton/Aston                   10 am – 2 pm
13 Oct ‘19          Middle Barton                       1 pm – 3 pm

On each of these occasions the Mobile Police Station will be used and located somewhere centrally at each site from where members of the public can collect Crime Reduction Advice Packs which will contain the following:

  • Rural Crime Reduction Advice Sheets
  • Action Fraud Information on Scams
  • Information update sheets
  • NHPT Posters
So if you live in or near to any of the above areas, why not look out for us and see if we can help.

If you require further advice, please call 101 and ask to speak to your local neighbourhood policing team.
