Appeal for information following an incident of public order in Oxford

Between 10pm and 11pm on Sunday (25/8) officers received a number of reports from members of the public of a large altercation involving around 20 people that had occurred in the area of Balfour Road and Ashmole Place, Blackbird Leys.

Officers attended the scene but the crowd had dispersed.

It is currently unknown if anyone was injured.

Investigating officer Detective Sergeant Craig Burchall, based at St Aldates police station, said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident to please come forward. This includes anyone who may have captured something on their mobile phones.

“I would also appeal to the public to check CCTV and dash-cam footage in case it may have captured anything that could assist with the investigation.

“Anyone with information can contact police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference ‘43190264606’, or make a report online.

“Alternatively, you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
