Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Kennington car thefts
There have been multiple thefts of vehicles in Kennington in the past month. Victims are leaving keys in the ignition and then leaving vehicles unattended. We urge that if you leave your vehicle, please lock and secure it, do not make your car an easy target!

Crime prevention surveys
We are now doing crime prevention surveys on houses within the Kennington, Radley and South Hinksey area. This will entail a house visit to have a look at your current layout of your house, then we will write a report on what you could improve on to make your house a harder target. If you are interested please email me on

Make it difficult for the burglar
Home security is the best way to reduce your chances of being burglaries. A lot of burglaries are spur of the moment, carried out by opportunist thieves who don’t even need to use force – they get in through an open door, window or other easy point of entry and take their chances. The good news is that is doesn’t take much to improve security and put off burglars. Spending money on security measures can seem daunting but it’s a good investment, it will last a long time and can add value to your home.

Look at your home through the eyes of a burglar
If you think your home security looks poor, chances are so will a burglar!
•    Are there place where they could break in without being seen?
•    If you have forgotten your keys but can still get in, so can a burglar!
Have a look around your property and think about how you would break in if you lock yourself out, you will maybe surprise yourself how easy it could be.

Have your say meeting
I am holding a ‘Have Your Say’ meeting at the Radley Village Hall on the 21/07/17 between 5pm - 6pm. Please come along to discuss any local issues.
