Distraction Burglaries - Bletchley

Alert message sent 20/12/2016 11:16:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

To our subscribers in Bletchley and the surrounding areas,

Over the last two days, we have taken reports of distraction burglaries where the suspect is claiming to be a care assistant, with elderly residents being targeted. During the commission of these offences, the suspect has asked to use the toilet and has also asked if they can have a glass of water.

If upon receipt of this message, you are aware of any local people near you that may be susceptible to this kind of offence, then please do visit them and give them the appropriate advice, or they can be put in contact with the local neighbourhood team either by calling 101, or emailing us at MKBletchleyCluster@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk and we can make arrangements to give appropriate crime prevention advice.

The main considerations for them would be to not open the door if they do not know who the caller at the address is, and to notify a trusted neighbour or the Police if they do suspect they are being targeted.

If you have any information about suspicious activity in the area that you feel may be of use to the investigating officers, then please contact us via the methods above. If you wish to remain anonymous, you can call crimestoppers on 0800 555111.

With regards

The Bletchley Neighbourhood Policing Team
