Stay Safe from Postal Scam

Alert message sent 03/09/2020 19:48:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

This is a message from Val McPherson covering Neighbourhood Watch in Aylesbury Vale.

I have been advised of postal scams circulating in the Aylesbury Vale and other Areas.

With this type of scam and other potential scams, please remember that: IF IT SEEMS TO BE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS!

If you have been told you have won something, think about whether you actually entered that prize draw or competition. If you did not you can be sure IT IS A SCAM. BIN IT!

If you have been asked to pay a fee upfront in order to receive your winnings, prize etc, it is A SCAM. BIN IT!

Does the communication contain bad spelling, or bad grammar? If so, It is A SCAM. BIN IT!

There are certain styles use in competition or lottery scam mail, such as coats of arms, seals, serial numbers, barcodes, watermarks, reproduced signatures, rubber stamps etc. If you receive a communication including these and claiming that you have won a prize that you never entered, it is A SCAM. BIN IT!

Have you received a letter or catalogue without asking for it or even without making contact
with the company? If so, it is probably  A SCAM. BIN IT!

Are they asking for money? Any request for money is suspicious unless proven otherwise. DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY.

If you or any family member feel vulnerable consider having your mail redirected to someone you trust.

Please take care and keep safe.
