Appeal for witnesses following aggravated burglary in Oxford

Alert message sent 29/06/2020 09:23:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after an aggravated burglary in Oxford.

At around 12.20am on Thursday (25/6), offenders arrived at a property on Emperor Gardens, Greater Leys, and attempted to force their way in.
It was reported that these offenders were armed with a firearm and a large knife.

Nobody was injured and nothing was stolen in the incident and officers from Thames Valley Police's armed response unit responded quickly and made two arrests.
Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Bruce Riddell, based at Oxford police station, said: “I appreciate that incidents such as this would cause concern in the local community.

“But at this stage, I believe this was a targeted attack and our officers quickly detained and arrested two suspects.

“Incidents such as this are increasingly rare, and in fact burglary in general has fallen considerably in the last 12 months.

“I am appealing to anybody that has any information about this incident or witnessed what happened to get in touch with police.

“Likewise, if anyone was driving in the area and may have dash-cam footage of the incident, please contact us.

“You can do so by making a report online or by calling 101, quoting reference number 43200190075.

“Alternatively, if you wish to remain 100% anonymous, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
