CCTV released following shoplifting and assault in Reading

At around 12.45pm on Saturday (6/6) the victim, a 27-year-old man, witnessed a woman shoplift from B&M Bargains at Brunel Retail Park. The victim followed the woman out of the shop where he was then hit around the head with a metal pole by an unknown man.

The victim sustained injuries to his head but did not require hospital treatment.

Investigating officer PC Daisy Taylor based at Reading police station said: “I am appealing to anyone who has information that could assist with this investigation to get in touch.

“If you recognise the man in this CCTV, or believe it could be you, please come forward as we believe this person may have vital information that can assist this investigation.

“If you have any information or saw anything suspicious in this area at the time of the incident, you can contact us using our online form or by calling 101 quoting reference number 43200168271.

“Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
