Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Neighbourhood Priorities

Priority One – Burglary

This quarter we have seen a decrease in residential burglaries from 20 to 12.

Make sure you lock the door with a key once inside the house, remove all keys from the lock as well as double locking doors to stop burglars ‘fishing’ for keys.

Make sure that UPVC doors are double locked whilst in the property and windows are not left open.

At this time of year make sure your home looks occupied, use timer switches on lights and televisions to give this impression.

Keep cash and other valuables out of sight

Trim back any hedges or plants that a burglar could hide behind and make sure side gates and back windows are secure.

Property mark your high value items with your postcode and house number.

Finally report any suspicious behaviour on the 101 non-emergency number or if a burglary in progress then call 999.

Priority Two – Anti Social Behaviour (ASB)

Following reports of Anti-Social Behaviour associated with the use of Dorney Lake (and surrounding land, to the north of the River Thames), Court Lane, Dorney, Buckinghamshire SL4 6QP, the South Bucks District Council propose to introduce a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) to cover the area described above to combat this unwarranted behaviour.

The activities which are to be prohibited are:

• the consumption of alcohol in breach of an authorised officer’s request to cease its consumption;
• having an unsealed container of alcohol, in breach of an authorised officer’s request to surrender the alcohol or container;
• the consumption of any psychoactive substance (colloquially known as a legal high) or possessing a psychoactive substance in breach of an authorised officer’s request to surrender it ;

• using behaviour towards another person (whether on the land or in the lake) which may reasonably be perceived to be threatening, aggressive or intimidating;
• entering the lake in a manner which is reasonably likely to harm any other person in the water;
• using foul or abusive language;
• gathering or loitering with any other person(s) in a manner which is (or may reasonably be perceived to be) intimidating or threatening to any other member of the public;
• driving a motor vehicle in such a manner that puts any other member of the public at risk of harm;
• performing any motor vehicle stunts; and
• racing a motor vehicle with any other motor vehicle, or exceeding the speed limits displayed on any sign within the Restricted Area.

Priority Three – Speeding

This quarter the Farnham Royal Speed Watch in conjunction with the Parish Council ran a speed watch campaign on the Beaconsfield Road.

PCSO Heidi Lansley has been hard at work with students from Dropmore School, Burnham with a Road Safety Poster Competition. Children from reception to year 2 had to create poster sin relation to either driving on mobile phones, parking dangerously, and speeding.

A winner from each year group was chosen and received a pack made up by the community safety team. The winning posters are now on display to remind road users around the area about driving safety

Other News

We were delighted to see that our two lovely police volunteers, Pat Bird and Shirley Paszkowski were awarded their 5 yearlong service medal at a ceremony with the Chief Constable in January. Both Sheila and Pat dedicate their own time to help run the police information desk in Burnham Park Library on a weekly basis as well as helping with other admin duties. Congratulations to both of you from the team.
