Yarnton area - FAO NW Coordinators

Alert message sent 06/01/2020 13:58:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Did you know that the structure of Neighbourhood Watch Schemes has changed?

It used to be the case that Thames Valley Police ran an information service called Community Messaging. Witness appeals and crime prevention advice messages were sent by email, text message or landline voicemail to people who were police verified Co-Ordinators of Neighbourhood Watch Schemes. These NW Scheme Co-Ordinators were then responsible for passing on this information to members of their schemes.

Thames Valley Police no longer carry out any administrative functions for Neighbourhood Watch Schemes and anyone wanting to set up a new NW scheme would need to contact a national organisation called Our Watch (https://www.ourwatch.org.uk/). Community Messaging is now called Thames Valley Alert (this is the platform that you are receiving this message from) and ANYONE (whether they are affiliated to an existing Neighbourhood Watch Scheme or not) can register to receive email or text message updates at https://thamesvalleyalert.co.uk/.

Fred Jones is the Neighbourhood Watch Area Co-Ordinator for Yarnton and is trying to map the number of Neighbourhood Watch Schemes still in existence in the village, in order to ensure that members are still receiving the information updates. If you live in Yarnton and have previously received the old-style Community Messaging updates as a NW Scheme Co-Ordinator, please contact Fred at fjonesyarnton@gmail.com.
