Enhanced Stop and Search Powers Extended in Slough

Alert message sent 30/09/2019 15:26:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

A new Section 60 order, which was enacted on Sunday (29/9) following a number of incidents which have taken place in Slough recently, has been extended for a further 24 hours until Tuesday afternoon (1/10).

A Section 60 order temporarily allows officers greater powers to stop and search in relation to items connected with violence in a defined location.
This Section 60 order applies to the entire Borough of Slough.

This order and the previous order were put in place following the murder of Elton Gashaj in Salt Hill Park on Saturday (21/9) and the stabbing of a man in Station Road in the Langley area of Slough on Wednesday (25/9).

Please do not be worried if you are stopped by an officer. Being stopped and searched does not mean that you are in trouble, it is just one method that we use to ensure weapons are kept off our streets.

Members of the public will see an increased presence of officers, please feel free to speak to any of our officers if you have concerns.
