Hi everyone,

My name is Mandy and I am the new ‘Anti-Social Behaviour Co-ordinator’, who works as part of the ‘Communities, Enforcement and Partnerships’ team at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

My role, incudes coordinating responses to reports of ‘Anti-Social Behaviour’ to the local authority and bringing together, all partner agencies, to tackle complex, community safety issues.

My background, has been working with vulnerable people.  I have experience of working as an ASB Coordinator within a Community Safety team, for a local authority in Oxfordshire and my previous role, was in a domestic abuse charity.

I hope to bring my experience and knowledge to this role and ensure the Royal Borough, is a safe and enjoyable place to live, work and visit !

MEMBERS’ COMMENTS:-

I have just received a flyer from Geoff from a security company which has some really bad crime statistics as a pressured selling technique.

My messages are accurate and I do tell you about all crimes that happen in Ascot.

They use very alarmist statistics:

Robberies up by 40%
Personal thefts up to over 70%

They use percentages as opposed to pure crime statistics, because they are most misleading !

An increase in burglaries from 2 last year, to 4 this year is a 100% increase - but it is still only 4 burglaries - not quite so horrific as stating there has been 100% increase, which does sound scary !

If you get one, don’t be afraid, don’t let it increase your fear of crime - bin it !

NEXT: I have been asked to circulate this message; by the Mayor’s office:

Dear RBWM resident,

The Mayor’s Charity Afternoon Tea - Thursday October 17th

I will be holding an Afternoon Tea in the Windsor Guildhall at 2.30 p.m. on Thursday 17th October in aid of my chosen Charity for the year - Thames Hospice

Tickets are priced at £20 each and I would be delighted if you, your friends or colleagues would like to join me for this informal gathering where we will partake of a traditional full English Afternoon Tea in the splendid surroundings of the magnificent Grade 1 Listed Guildhall.

The Charity:
Thames Hospice registered Charity number 1108298
2019 is an important year for Thames Hospice as they are in the process of a new build, which is very much required to meet current and future service demand.  Further information can be found on their website - www.thameshospice.org.uk

During the afternoon, we will also enjoy a short musical performance.
I do hope that you will be able to help me support this special charity and I look forward to hearing from you soon and hopefully seeing you on 17th October

Yours faithfully
Sayonara Luxton
Mayor
