Alert message sent 02/08/2019 09:57:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Between 3.30pm and 4.30pm on Monday (29/7) offenders have knocked on the door of a property on Wey Road claiming to be from the Waterboard. They have subsequently gained entry to the property.

An amount of cash, jewellery and personal items were stolen.

The offender is described a white man, approximately 5ft 11ins tall, of large build with brown hair and facial stubble. He was wearing a baseball cap and had an Irish accent.

The second offender is described as a white man with dark brown, scruffy hair and slim.

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area between the times of the incident or has information can contact police on 101, quoting reference ‘43190232540’ or make a report online.

You can reduce the risk of becoming a victim as follows:

STOP
- Before you answer, stop and think if you are expecting anyone.
- Check that you have locked the back door and taken the key out.
- Look through a spy hole or window to see who it is.
- You can choose not to open the door.

CHECK
- Even if they have a pre-arranged appointment, take time to check their identity card carefully. Close the door while you do this.
- If you are still unsure, look up the phone number and ring to verify their identity.
- Never call the number on the identity card, or a number that has been given to you, as these may be fake and you may be speaking to another fraudster.

Remember IF IN DOUBT KEEP THEM OUT!
