Royal Ascot 2019 Policing Operation

Alert message sent 13/06/2019 13:57:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police is proud to be policing Royal Ascot again this year from Tuesday 18 – Saturday 22 June.

As usual for this event, there will be an increased visible police presence in Ascot throughout the five days to ensure racegoers can enjoy the occasion safely and with minimal impact on you, our residents and business owners. The extra armed, unarmed and mounted officers are there to reassure you rather than alarm you as they assist Ascot Racecourse with keeping all members of the public safe.

Temporary road closures and traffic management systems will be put in place around the racecourse from approximately 10.30am-1.30pm and 5.00pm-8.00pm each day. Information on these can be found at

My officers and I know that the impact of this event is not restricted to just the racecourse area during the day time. Local neighbourhood officers and Windsor Street Angels will accompany some of the additional officers during the evenings of the event, particularly around the pubs, bars and other licensed premises.
By working together we can help to keep our local community safe. You provide our additional eyes and ears on the ground, so if you see anything suspicious or unusual, please approach any of our officers or report it to us on online or on 101, or in an emergency 999.

If you see criminal activity taking place but do not want to speak to the police directly, you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at

The front counter of Ascot police station will be open from 11am-7pm each day during the event if you need to report any non-urgent matters, or as always, you can report a crime on the Thames Valley Police website or call 101.

If you own a drone, please note that a Restriction of Flying Regulation has been granted in the vicinity of Ascot Racecourse, Berkshire between 9:00am and 7:00pm from 18 June 2019 up to and including 22 June 2019. More information can be found at
