Police Officer Recruitment Opening

Alert message sent 16/05/2019 10:27:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

As a Police Officer, you’ll be making a difference every day. Policing can be tough and unpredictable but also highly rewarding. No two days are ever the same. You could find yourself on a response team, problem solving on a neighbourhood team or gathering information in the force intelligence team.

You will be fully trained to protect the public; providing reassurance, supporting victims of crime and investigating complex offences using a mix of cutting-edge technology and time-proven traditional methods.

We are looking for self-disciplined, professional, approachable people who can build relationships. Your effective communication and confidence will be as key as your reliability and enthusiasm.

Join TVP’s policing family. We all bring points of difference but pull together as one team with the common purpose of making the communities of the Thames Valley safer and more secure.

Both new entry routes are open to anyone over the age of 18 who meets the eligibility criteria.

----------

For those who DO NOT have a degree already:

Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) entry route:

A three year programme of learning combining operational competence with academic study. Successful completion of probation results in a BSc Professional Policing Practice.

Educational Requirements for the PCDA
  • all applicants must have passes in both English (Language or Literature) and Mathematics at GCSE/Level 2 (A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent
  • in addition, applicants must also have a minimum of one Level 3 qualification (A Level grade A-E or equivalent) OR relevant professional experience (which demonstrates the capability and confidence to study to degree level). The relevance of the ‘professional experience’, where suitability for study towards a degree is concerned, will be jointly assessed by Thames Valley Police and Bucks New University. This decision will take place prior to the offer of a place at an Assessment Centre.
----------

For those who already have a Degree qualification:

Degree-Holder Entry Programme (DHEP) entry route

A two-year programme of learning combining operational competence with academic study. Successful completion of probation results in a Graduate Diploma in Professional Policing Practice. All candidates on this entry route require a degree qualification.
