ANOTHER COURIER FRAUD !
9/4 Tuesday midday the aggrieved received a phone call. The details are very scant as the victim cannot remember much of the conversation. All that we know, is that someone had arranged to come to her home and collect her bank cards. That is part of the standard Courier Frauds. Luckily the aggrieved spoke to a neighbour and her bank was contacted to protect her accounts.

9/4 Tuesday 1 p.m. / 3.15 p.m. Oxford Road East. Attempt to steal a locked bike in a bike rack. Damage to lock.
8/4 Monday 6 p.m. / 10.10 p.m. Romney Lock Road. Car driver’s window smashed - coat stolen from the rear.
8/4 Monday 2.55 p.m. / 10.30 p.m. Riverside Car Park, Datchet Road. Car rear windscreen smashed - Purse hidden under a jumper stolen.
8/4 Monday 2.20 p.m. / 2.30 p.m. Thames Street. Locked up bike stolen. A light blue & black, Carrera bike.
ETON & ETON WICK:
8/4 Monday 3.30 p.m. High Street, Eton. 3 or 4 youths witnessed in a rear garden. They had forced a garden gate to gain entry. Believed they were attempting to steal a bike stored there.

6/4 - 9/4 Saturday midnight / Tuesday 11.35 a.m. Manor Farm Close. Car front passenger window smashed - vandalism.
9/4 Tuesday 2 a.m. Tudor Way. Offenders climbed over a garden fence and then threw large plant pots around, causing damage.
8/4 Monday 11 p.m. Ashbrook Road. Attempted burglary. Jemmy marks around rear door frame. No entry gained and nothing stolen.
COMMUNITY GROUPS ACTIVE IN RBWM:
I am a member of the ‘One Borough Group’, which last met on Wednesday, 13th March, 2019. This is a group of all the Community Groups, which are active in in RBWM. Each time we meet, we find another group, working hard in the community, we didn’t know about. Our next meeting is in June. If you are a group, seeking recognition or involvement with other groups - let me know. We want the group, to be as comprehensive as possible. At the meeting, there are often 30 or 40 of us ! We decided that it was now essential that we produce a ‘directory’ of these community groups and the services they deliver. I will publish this as soon as it becomes available.
At our last meeting, we received a report by Dawn Sines, who is the CEO of Give & Take Care. A really interesting concept, of a volunteer time bank, they have brought over to the UK from Europe. I am visiting Brunel University tomorrow, Thursday 11th April, to find out more details of this new concept.
Is this something of interest to you ? ‘Give & Take Care’: Minute: Gabriella Spinelli, gave a presentation on the above titled item. Members of the Forum were informed that the ‘Give and Take Care’ was a Community Interest Company (CIC), formed in 2015. They deliver a ‘time banking’ scheme, with the ambition to become embedded in society, long term.
It was outlined that there were both ‘care givers’’ and care receivers’ both of which, were known to partners. It was highlighted that ‘Give and Take Care’ delivered volunteered befriending support, through existing charities and encourages regular ‘one to one’ support visits, which can become long term, meaningful friendships.
Members of the OBG, were told that this would improve the quality of care for many older adults, by increasing connections with others and provide additional support, with day to day activities. The scheme was available for those, who were in existing family care arrangements, enabling family carers, to bank some caring time, for their own future needs. At present, there was a limited volunteer pool. The scheme currently operated across a number of regions, including Windsor, Maidenhead, Wokingham and Leicester.
Give and Take Care had received a £1mil grant through the Better Care Fund (BCF) and Council funds. Members of the OBG, were told that some of the work being carried out, was to redefine attitudes around care and to work more widely, with that demographic, as opposed to focusing solely, on the aging population. The Forum was informed that a card had been created, for volunteers to receive discounts. Breakfast meetings, had been held with local businesses, to encourage them to join the scheme.
It was acknowledged that there was a desire to coordinate the skills and talent from volunteers, to create an opportunity for all. There were opportunities to be developed, with upskilling volunteers and wider opportunities for the community through this. Members of the OBG were informed that there was respite care available, for those who provided care to others. It was outlined that there were concerns that some people who provided care, had been receiving cash for their services and that the discount offering scheme, would be more beneficial. The Forum were told that a BCF Fund, had a fund of £550,000 as the 1st phase bid, for the Big Lotto Fund.
It was outlined that there were currently 40 registered volunteers across the Windsor and Maidenhead area, 1,000 volunteers nationally and 1,500 hours of care, banked with them. Members of the OBG discussed ways in which they could distribute this information via their own networks. It was outlined that work with Optalis, had been carried out in relation to training for volunteers. Members were informed that referrals were received, from several clinics and that loneliness and isolation support, was also offered.
Members of the OBG, queried whether any work or contact had been made with local Housing Associations and it was confirmed that work was done in Rochdale, with tenancy support and in providing 10 hours of free care to residents, after moving into their new property.
ACTION- That Give and Take Care provide a full update at the next meeting.
At the conclusion of the presentation, Members discussed the importance of including all carers and young people and to explore isolation and loneliness, within the wider demographic.
