Thefts of BMW and Land Rovers in Bracknell and Wokingham

Alert message sent 05/12/2018 09:12:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police has issued advice to motorists following vehicle thefts in and around Wokingham.
There have been twelve thefts reported from motorists whose vehicles have been stolen between 24 September and 1st  December 2018. The incidents, which have all involved BMW and Land Rover models, have taken place in Wokingham, Sandhurst, Woodley, Earley and Sindlesham, Arborfield and Crowthorne.
The incidents are believed to be linked.
Detective Sergeant Terry Dixon, from the Complex Crime team at Loddon Valley police station, said: “Following a number of recent thefts in the area, we are advising motorists on steps that can be taken to help secure their vehicle.
“You can reduce the risk of becoming a victim by locking your vehicle in your garage when it is not being used. If this is not possible, then try to park in view of a CCTV camera or in a well-lit area.
“Store your car key in a metal box, or a RF signal blocking box, when you are at home to block the transmission signal from the fob. Also consider having a GPS tracking system fitted if you don’t have one.
“Remain vigilant of any suspicious vehicles nearby, and remember to always manually check the door handle after locking your car. If you are not able to lock your vehicle using your key fob, please do not leave it unattended, as this could be a sign that a key jammer is being used. You should contact police immediately by dialling 999 if you suspect a crime is in progress”.
Anyone with information about these incidents should call 101 quoting reference 43180339833. Alternatively, you can report information anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
