Appeal for information following a dog bite in Wantage

Alert message sent 11/09/2017 14:02:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

We are appealing for information following an incident in which a teenager was bitten by dog.

At around 4.30pm on Wednesday (6/9), the victim, a 15-year-old girl, was walking across a playing field at the back of Wantage Rugby Club when she was bitten by a large black dog with short-length hair. The dog had a collar on but was not on a lead at the time.

The victim suffered two puncture wounds to her leg. She did not require hospital treatment.

Officers are trying to trace the identity of the female owner of the dog. The woman, who is in her fifties, is 5ft 8 with shoulder-length blonde hair. She was wearing a light coloured cardigan. The woman left the Rugby Club in a dark green jeep style car.

Anyone with information should call 101.

If you don’t want to speak directly to police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information are not traced or recorded and you will not go to court .
