Cases of Dippers in Windsor Town Centre, can everyone be extra careful with their purses / wallets and mobile phones – they are very good !

JUST A REMINDER:
Hi Jeff

The burglary in Onslow Road was next door to me.  I don’t know precisely what time it happened, but the crooks have got a lot of bottle.

They broke into the back of the house – under reconstruction – found a load of expensive tools, loaded them into two wheelbarrows and took them down the road, presumably to their vehicle which must have been parked on the round at the end.  They then left the wheelbarrows on the footpath and scarpered.

Wow!  I will be making sure my security is doubly checked !

Have a nice weekend

D

Exactly – Thanks D for the reminder – this could happen to any of us.  These offenders are not called ‘Opportunist Thieves’ for nothing.  They are out there 24 / 7 walking around looking for someone who has made a mistake.  Left a ground floor window open and gone out, a side access vulnerable, a car left unlocked.  We walk along roads and don’t pay any attention to these things.  How many of us have walked along a row of parked cars trying car door handles ???  It doesn’t enter our heads.  We can walk past a house with ground floor windows open and it means absolutely nothing and we pay no attention.  To Opportunist Thieves – this is their business – to recognise an opportunity or vulnerability and then to exploit it.  Most Opportunist crime can be avoided – we must bear some of the responsibility to protect ourselves and our possessions.  Make sure our houses are locked at night, the rear patio doors kitchen windows of our houses are not vulnerable via an insecure side access / gate / garden gate.  THAT WE MAKE SURE WE HAVE LOCKED OUR CARS !!!

5/2  Sunday 6.20 p.m.  Westborough Road.  Burglary.  The owner returned and entered the house with his dog, by a side door.  The dog started barking.  They saw the shadow of a man in the living room, using his mobile phone as a torch.  The man then tried to escape through the front door, but it double locked – deadlocked.  The offender then ran upstairs.  The aggrieved rang the police who attended immediately – as it was a crime in progress.  The offender then climbed out of a upstairs window onto an extension and made off, fence hopping over several gardens.  The thief had arrived at the house on a bike, which he left behind, climbed over the back gate, unlocked it and wheeled his bike into the garden.  He then approached the back of the house and forced a kitchen window.
