Information about the change in dog microchipping last year:  (information received from one of our officers): Microchipping came into force on 6th April 2016 and several Councils have successfully prosecuted keepers for breaches.  The most recent was a Coalville lady who had failed to keep her details up to date.  She was fined £220 and ordered to pay a whopping £959 for the Council's costs (reported in the press on 6th January 2017).

All user scam information:  One of our Thames Valley Alert members has sent through the information about an email scam:
I'm sure you are aware of a new scam, from "Greater Manchester Police" An official looking email for a speeding offence. a bit unlikely as Police would not send this by eMail?, I will forward if you can give me an email address. I have received several different copies so far.
The Text (not html layout) is below a link to a picture of email is -

Also another scam received by one of our  Twyford residents:
I have received two emails purporting to be from HMRC from the address:
secretary @ cabinet-office . gsi . gov .uk  which looks very suspicious. The greeting is: Dear Customer
not my name, there is no reference number and it is suggested that I am owed a substantial refund and I should click a link to get a form.
The give away is that in the quoted refund the differentiator between the pounds and the pence is a comma and not a full stop which shows this is from continental Europe!

Also a resident from Amberley Drive, Twyford, had a visit from a Home Maintenance company,. “I have been on their web page which looks normal. But they were obviously lying, as they said they would soon be working next door in 40 minutes when they ( the neighbours) came back. I have since spoken to my neighbours, who have no such plans, and no work was carried out that day.  The company wanted to do the cement under my roof tiles which has a few cracks. I thanked them for pointing it out to me, and said I would obviously get a second quote from my builder and ask him why he had not pointed it out. They then went off down the road.”
We do advise not to deal with doorstep traders.
