Alert message sent 04/01/2017 11:35:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Here is the latest update from PCSOs Harry Cornforth, Jamie Moya-Flood and Adrian Wright

‘You said we did’/ Priorities
Periodically our area gets visits from doorstep sales persons commonly known as ‘Nottingham Knockers’ who will usually have bags of household and cleaning items to sell. These individuals will offer paperwork and licencing to validate their activities but we would like to make it clear that no authority has been given to operate. If you get an unexpected visit from anyone trying to sell goods or services at your door, we suggest politely declining their offers and calling 101 so we can engage with them and remove them if necessary.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB)
It has been reported to us that a group of young people have been damaging resident’s hedges on the Oxford Road, Cumnor. This has occurred on at least two separate occasions. We ask residents to remain vigilant and report similar behaviour.

Crime prevention advice
There has been a small number of burglaries in the area recently, we would like to ensure residents are taking all the relevant precautions to avoid being a victim of crime such as keeping doors and windows shut and locked. Locking away valuables where practicable and potentially looking at shed alarms should you feel it suitable. If in any doubt of home security please contact your local neighbourhood team who will be happy to assist you.

What the neighbourhood team have been doing
In December the Neighbourhood Team held a day of action in Botley Precinct. We were able to offer crime prevention advice and also sign members of the public up to Thames Valley Alerts which notifies you if a crime or anything of interest you may need to know has occurred in the local area.
