Support National CSE Awareness Day to stop child sexual exploitation

Alert message sent 17/03/2016 10:43:00

Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

On Friday 18 March we will be supporting National Awareness Day for child sexual exploitation with other organisations across Bucks, working together as part of the Buckinghamshire Safeguarding Children Board.

We’re joining the national campaign #HelpingHands to show what is being done to stop sexual exploitation against children and young people. You can show your support too by writing a personal pledge on your hand and posting a photo on social media with the hashtag #HelpingHands, Tag in @RUWiseBucks so that we can retweet your support.

Child sexual exploitation is a form of sexual abuse in which a young person is manipulated or forced into taking part in a sexual act, often in return for attention, affection, gifts, money, drugs, alcohol, status or accommodation.

Everyone has a role to play in raising awareness of child sexual exploitation. Together, we can work to inform, educate and prevent this form of child sexual abuse in Buckinghamshire.

To find out more about child sexual exploitation, how to spot the signs and how to report it go to www.ruwise2it.co.uk

If you are worried about someone who you think may be a victim of child sexual exploitation you can contact Thames Valley Police on the non-emergency number 101 or Buckinghamshire County Council First Response team on 0845 460 0001 or email secure-cypfirstresponse@buckscc.gcsx.gov.uk

Barnardo’s has a countywide service for young people, ‘R-U-Safe?’, which is able to offer advice and support to any young person worried about these issues. Get in touch with them at: text: 07546 075 638 or visit www.barnardos.org.uk/rusafebucks
