Man sentenced for grooming offence – Slough
Following a Thames Valley Police investigation a man has been sentenced to 2 years’ imprisonment after he pleaded guilty to a sexual grooming offence.
Daniel Ryan, aged 23, of Cumbrae Close, Slough, pleaded guilty on Thursday (3/03) at Reading Crown Court to one count of Arrange / facilitate the commission of a child sex offence - SOA 2003 (sexual grooming). He was sentenced on the same day.
In addition to his custodial sentence, Ryan will have to sign the Sex Offenders register for a 10 year period.  
Ryan met his 12-year-old victim then tracked the victim down through searching for her Facebook where he then made contact with her under a false name and profile he created.
Ryan’s contact started on 30 July 2015until the 7 August 2015.
Ryan was arrested on 17 August and charged on 23 November 2015.
Investigating Officer, PC Rebecca Nichols of Local CID based at Reading police station, said; “It is a relief that Ryan is now behind bars, he was quite clearly trying to groom this victim.
“I hope that the victim and her family can now move on from this traumatic experience.
“I would urge parents and young people to be vigilant and aware to the risks of people posing on Facebook as someone they are not.
“I would also encourage any young person or parent to report any suspicious activity and call 101.”
