Attempted Robbery - Westcroft

Alert message sent 09/05/2012 10:03:00
Information sent on behalf of Thames Valley Police

Thames Valley Police is appealing for witnesses after an attempted robbery in Milton Keynes last night (7/5).

At about 9.20pm, a 41-year-old man was walking in the underpass under the H6 Childs Way into Westcroft when he was approached by four men. One of the men demanded the victim hand over money.

The victim lashed out at two of the men to defend himself when a fifth man appeared and ran towards the victim, but he managed to defend himself again.

The offenders then ran off and nothing was stolen.

Four of the offenders are white and aged between 18 and 21 years old. The fifth man is white and about 35 or 40 years old. He is about 5ft 10ins, of medium build, with short dark hair and he was wearing blue jeans and a red top.

Det Con Sam Reynolds, of the Priority Crime Team based in Milton Keynes, said: “The victim whilst defending himself may have given one of the men a black eye or bruising just above the nose.

“I would like to hear from anyone who has a relative or friend who came home with an eye injury last night or this morning.

“The fifth man may not have been connected with the group and may not have realised that an attempted robbery was taking place. I would like to appeal for that man to come forward with any information.”

Anyone with information should call the Thames Valley Police 24-hour non-emergency number 101 and ask to speak to Det Con Reynolds.

If you don't want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.

No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
