CCTV

A timely reminder of how effective home CCTV can be in deterring criminals!

At approximately 2:10am on Thursday 29th October on Church Street, Kingham, a suspicious individual wearing a balaclava was captured on a resident’s CCTV camera after entering their driveway.

The individual appeared to become aware of the CCTV camera and was seemingly deterred from approaching the property any further.

Although the person’s intentions remain unknown, this incident highlights how visible home security measures can discourage suspicious activity and potentially prevent burglaries.

WHY IS CCTV WORTH HAVING?

Acts as a deterrent – Visible cameras can discourage criminals from targeting your home, vehicle or outbuildings.

Provides valuable evidence – CCTV footage can help police identify suspects and investigate criminal offences.

Monitors your property – Many modern systems allow you to view live footage directly from your mobile phone, wherever you are.

Provides instant alerts – Motion-activated cameras can notify you when someone approaches your property.

Offers peace of mind – CCTV provides an additional layer of security, particularly during the hours of darkness. HELP PROTECT YOUR HOME.

We encourage residents to consider installing CCTV or video doorbells as part of their home security arrangements.

Where possible, position cameras to cover vulnerable areas such as driveways, entrances, garages and outbuildings.

Remember, CCTV works best alongside other security measures, including good-quality locks, security lighting and alarms.

REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY

If you notice anyone behaving suspiciously around your property or neighbouring homes, please report it to Thames Valley Police.

999 – If a crime is taking place or there is an immediate danger.

101 – To report suspicious activity or a non-emergency incident.

Your CCTV camera could be the difference between becoming a victim of crime and preventing one.
