England are due to play at 01:00hrs on Monday 6th July 2026. We appreciate that many people will be staying up late to watch the match and support the Three Lions.

We also recognise that for many, watching England in a World Cup match and enjoying a pint can go hand in hand. ⚽🍺

However, please be mindful of how long alcohol takes to leave your body.

A common misconception is that a few hours' sleep will make you fit to drive. In reality, alcohol can remain in your system well into the following morning. 
The NHS advises that one unit of alcohol is roughly the amount the average adult can process in one hour, although this varies between individuals.

To put that into perspective:
•    A pint of strong lager can contain around 3 units of alcohol. 
•    A bottle of wine can contain around 10 units of alcohol. 
•    If you finish drinking at 04:00hrs after the match, alcohol could still be in your system many hours later.

Many people may be heading to bed in the early hours but still getting up for work as normal.
If you are driving to work, taking children to school, or getting behind the wheel for any reason, make sure you are genuinely fit to drive before doing so.

🚔 Officers will still be out on patrol and conducting roadside breath tests.

Drink driving puts you at risk of:
•    Causing serious injury or death to yourself or others.
•    Losing your driving licence.
•    Receiving a criminal conviction.
•    Losing your job or damaging your career prospects.
•    Losing your independence and ability to travel.

It simply isn't worth it.
Enjoy the match, support England responsibly, and if you're drinking, plan ahead. Leave the car keys alone and make alternative arrangements.
