🚨 Community Alert – Railway Safety Warning 🚨

At approximately 10:00 pm on Monday, 9 June, officers responded to reports of a group of children seen on the railway line between Steeple Claydon and Middle Claydon.

Units from Thames Valley Police and British Transport Police attended the area; however, the children could not be located. As a result of this incident, Network Rail implemented safety measures, which caused temporary disruption to rail services in the area.

It is believed that the children involved may be from nearby villages.

⚠️ Important Safety Message

We are urging all parents, guardians, and carers to speak to their children about the very real dangers of railway lines.

Railways are not a safe place to play or explore. The risks include:

High-speed trains that can approach quietly and cannot stop quickly

Limited visibility around bends, bridges, and vegetation

Electric hazards, including electrified rails and overhead lines

Uneven ground and trip hazards that can lead to falls onto the track

No safe place to escape once a train is approaching

Even a moment’s misjudgement can have life-threatening consequences.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 What You Can Do

Speak openly with children about staying well away from railway tracks and infrastructure

Remind them that trespassing on railways is illegal and extremely dangerous

Encourage safe alternatives for outdoor play

Report any concerns or sightings of individuals on the tracks to authorities immediately
