Motorbike & Vehicle Security – Crime Prevention Advice

As we move into the warmer months and lighter evenings, we typically see an increase in theft of motorbikes and other vehicles across the area.

We’re encouraging residents to take a moment to review how their vehicles are secured and to consider some simple crime prevention measures to reduce the risk of theft.

Crime prevention advice:

Always lock your vehicle, even if leaving it unattended for a short time

Use additional security such as steering locks, disk locks, chains, or ground anchors

Where possible, park motorbikes and vehicles in a locked garage or a well‑lit and overlooked area

Consider fitting alarms, immobilisers, or tracking devices

Use a motorbike cover – it reduces visibility and can deter opportunist thieves

Keep keys secure at home and out of sight, including spare keys

Visible security measures can significantly reduce the likelihood of a vehicle being targeted.

Please remain vigilant and look out for suspicious behaviour, particularly during the evening or overnight:

Call 999 if a crime is in progress
