North East Oxford Neighbourhood Team – Weekly Update! 🌟 Another busy week for the team last week, and we’ve been working hard across the area to keep our community safe and supported. Here’s a roundup of what we’ve been up to (and trust us, this isn’t everything!) 😄 Operation Retail – Cracking Down on Shoplifting
We’ve been working closely with local businesses to tackle prolific shoplifters under Op Retail. This included the arrest of a well known shoplifter at the Co Operative on Cherwell Drive, who has since been charged and remanded for three thefts 🛍️
We also stopped a vehicle linked to an offender who had been outstanding since August 2025. Four people were arrested, all charged and remanded for offences including handling stolen goods, going equipped to steal, and several shopliftings. A large haul of stolen items was recovered and returned to rightful owners, and one suspect has already been sentenced to 26 weeks imprisonment 🚓
Additionally, colleagues from the City Centre team arrested another individual for 18 offences, including thefts, criminal damage, and assaults on emergency workers. We took this on in Custody and he has been charged and remanded for all offences 📂 Drugs & Local Priorities
We continued to target drug dealing in the area, resulting in five positive stop searches for Class A drugs 🚔
A Community Resolution with a drugs awareness course 💡
We supported the South East Neighbourhood team and the Pro-active team during a fear for welfare call, where three males were found cuckooing a vulnerable person. All were arrested, with one charged and remanded for drug supply and weapon offences 💊
We also completed a Closure Order application relating to this address, which was successfully granted at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court 🏛️ Community Engagement
Our PCSOs attended the Iftar Dinner at Oxford Academy, spending time with members of the community and local councillors. Thank you to everyone who welcomed us so warmly 🤝 And finally…
