Crime Alert – Power Tools Stolen from Van
We have received a report of power tools being stolen from a vehicle parked on Edward Stone Rise at approximately 2:00am on 12th March. Thieves targeted tools stored inside the van and made off with several items.
A white vehicle, possibly an Audi A3 has been captured on CCTV in the area. If you have any further information please contact the police on 101 and quote reference number 43260121621
Unfortunately, vans carrying tools are often targeted overnight as criminals know they can quickly sell on expensive equipment.
Crime Prevention Advice for Van Owners:
Use additional locks – Consider fitting high-quality aftermarket locks such as deadlocks, slam locks, or hook locks to make it harder for thieves to gain entry.
Install a secure vault or tool safe – A bolted-down tool vault or security box inside the van can significantly slow thieves down and protect valuable equipment.
Park smart –
CCTV and lighting – Motion-activated lighting and CCTV cameras can act as a deterrent and may capture useful evidence.
Mark your tools – Mark tools with Selecta DNA or forensic marking kits. This makes items traceable and significantly reduces their resale value to criminals.
Record serial numbers – Keep a record of serial numbers, photographs and descriptions of all tools so they can be identified if recovered.
Remove tools overnight if possible – The safest option is to take tools out of the van overnight and store them securely.
Please share this message with anyone who may keep tools in their vehicles. Criminals rely on easy opportunities—taking a few simple precautions can make a big difference.
