Door to Door Scams

Local police are warning residents about reports of door-to-door scams in the area.

Offenders may knock on doors asking for money, personal details, or permission to take photographs of your home. They may claim to represent a charity, utility company, council service, surveyor, or repair service. Some may appear convincing and use official-looking clothing, badges, or paperwork.

PLEASE REMEMBER:

Do not give cash, bank details, or personal information to anyone who turns up unexpectedly.

Do not allow unknown individuals to photograph your property or enter your home.

Genuine organisations will not pressure you for immediate payment or personal details on your doorstep.

Council staff, utility workers, and police officers will always carry identification - take time to check it and contact the organisation directly if unsure.

PROTECT YOURSELF WITH THESE TIPS:

Keep doors locked and use a door chain or a door viewer if you have one.

Do not feel rushed - it's okay to say NO and close the door.

Considering using a “No Cold Callers” sign.

Look out for neighbours, particularly elderly or vulnerable residents.

If something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts.

If you are concerned:

Call 999 if you feel threatened or believe a crime is in progress.

Report suspicious activity to police on 101 or via the force website.
